Segments
The company operates in three segments: Performance Polymers, Advanced Intermediates, and Performance Chemicals.
The Performance Polymers segment offers rubbers for use in vehicles, tires, construction, and footwear industries; engineering plastics; and polyamide compounds.
The Advanced Intermediates segment provides intermediates for the agrochemical and coating industries; fine chemicals as precursors and intermediates for pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals; and tire chemicals, as well as custom manufacturing services.
The Performance Chemicals segment offers material protection products; inorganic pigments for the coloring of concrete, emulsion paints, and other coatings; finishing agents for the leather industry; rubber chemicals; reverse osmosis membrane elements and ion exchange resins for water treatment; and plastics additives, such as flame retardants and plasticizers.
Research and Development Expenses
The company’s research and development expenses included €130 million in 2015.
