Belo Sun Mining Corp., through its subsidiaries, operates as a mineral exploration and development company that focuses on gold in Brazil.
The company’s focus is on the Volta Grande Gold Project, an advanced-stage development and exploration project, located 49 kilometers southeast of the town of Altamira (population 150,000) in the northern region of Pará State.
The company also has a 100% ownership interest in one minor Mineral Resource projects, a 100% ownership interest in the Rainbow Alexandrite Project, which is located north of the city of Brasilia.
The company holds 100% interest in the Volta Grande Gold Project through its wholly owned subsidiary named Belo Sun Mineração Ltda. The Volta Grande Gold Project includes four mining concession applications, 58 exploration permits, 16 exploration permits extension submitted, all covering a total area of 172,631 hectares.
The Volta Grande Gold Project contains two target areas, including the North and South Blocks; the former contains four large mineralized areas, including the Ouro Verde area in the north western part of the North Block; the Grota Seca area to the south-east; the Junction area that connects Grota Seca and Ouro Verde; and the Greia area north of Grota Seca. The South Block includes three target areas, including Pequi in the northern part of the South Block; Grande in the southern part of the South Block; and Itatá in the southeastern part of the South Block.
Regulation
The company is required to comply with anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws, including the Criminal Code (Canada), and the Canadian Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act, as well as similar laws in the countries in which it conducts its business.
History
Belo Sun Mining Corp. was founded in 1996. The company was formerly known as Verena Minerals Corporation and changed its name to Belo Sun Mining Corp. in July 2010.
