Electric Units

eAxle Offset Design (150kW): This is an EV unit that is a power source of an electric vehicle. The high-efficiency 3-axis gear train and the optimized motor have realized compact size, light weight and high efficiency, and can be mounted on the front or rear of a vehicle. Main applicable vehicles are MIRAI, C-HR, IZOA (Toyota), and UX300e (LEXUS).

1-motor Hybrid Transmission: In this system, the single motor and the clutch is placed within the torque converter portion of the existing automatic transmission. The clutch could detach the engine from the transmission, which made running in full electric vehicle (EV) mode possible, while realizing a significant improvement in fuel economy. Achieved a higher rank of driving performance by applying the power from both the motor and the engine to the 8-speed transmission. Main applicable vehicles are DS7 (DS).

Other Transmissions

High Torque Capacity RWD Multi Stage Hybrid Transmission: Adopting a multistage shift device to a hybrid transmission enables more efficient use of engine and motor energy. Acceleration performance and high fuel efficiency are achieved by significantly improved system output and transmission efficiency in the entire range. Main applicable vehicles are Crown (Toyota), LC500h, and LS500h (LEXUS).

High Torque Capacity RWD 10-Speed Automatic Transmission: Rhythmic and smooth shift change is achieved with cross gear steps. Weight reduction for components, improved hydraulic response, and accuracy achieve excellent responsiveness to the driver’s acceleration. The LOCK-UP range is expanded by developing a high performance small torque converter, and transmission efficiency is increased, which resulted in fuel economy improvement. Main applicable vehicles are LC500 and LS500 (LEXUS).

Direct Shift CVT: Realized outstanding fuel efficiency, 6% better than the current CVT, with direct and powerful driving performance, and top-class gear ratio range by adopting starting gear for CVT for the first time ever in the world. The narrowed CVT belt and reduced diameter pulley achieves a smooth shift and powerful rhythmic driving performance. Main applicable vehicles are Corolla Sport, C-HR (Totota), and UX (LEXUS).

Powertrain Components

Electric Water Pump for Engine Cooling: The electric water pump powered by a motor pumps cooling water to the engine to keep it at an optimal temperature. By cleverly changing the shape and layout of the motor magnet, the pump has become compact and lightweight.

Electric Water Pump for Inverter Cooling: The integration of control circuit, motor and pump enables a compact body size that achieves high compatibility to a variety of models. Optimized motor control reduces noise.

Variable Valve Timing: Optimal adjustment of engine intake and exhaust valve shutting timing according to driving conditions contributes to improved output, fuel efficiency and reduced emissions in comparison to conventional types.

Variable Intake Manifold: Contributes to improvement of engine output and reduced fuel consumption, by the use of highly airtight variable port length intake valve and a retractable tumble control valve and optimization of intake pulsation and flow velocity.

Continuously Variable Capacity Oil Pump: Incorporates the world's first ‘Internal Gear Mechanism’. With a unique gear tooth form, it continually supplies the minimum oil necessary according to the engine's operating condition, contributing to improvement of fuel economy by reducing the demand on the engine driving the pump.

Chassis and Vehicle Safety Systems

Parking and Driving Support

Automated Parking System: Parking spaces can be detected using ultrasonic sensors and cameras. Since the target parking position is set automatically, the steering wheel is automatically activated by flipping a switch, making the car back into a parking space or parallel park while detecting obstacles.

Driver Monitoring System: The camera takes pictures of the driver to detect which direction the driver is facing and whether the driver’s eyes are open or closed. It is used for systems that prevent the occurrence of accidents due to inattentive driving and dozing.

Brake and Steering-Related Products

Electronically Controlled Brake System: These brake systems are installed in electric vehicles, such as HVs and EVs, enabling energy to be recovered while still enabling smooth handling of the brakes.

Disc Brake: Consistent efficiency and reduction of brake noise and vibration are achieved at high levels. Manufacturing caliper parts from aluminum achieves lighweighting while also providing high rigidity.

Active Rear Steering System: Automatically steers the rear wheel in the optimal direction according to vehicle status and steering wheel operation, enabling smaller turning radius at low speeds and improved stability at high speeds.

Body

For the growing MaaS market, the company leverages its capability of developing opening and closing systems and sensing technology to offer safe, comfortable mobility and vehicle entry/exit.

Door Opening and Closing System

Power Sliding Door System

This system broadens the cabin space by building a drive unit in the sliding door or on the floor. It has already been adopted for many types of vehichles in Japan from micro/compact cars to minivans. It creates a larger opening making it easier for anyone, including children, the elderly and those with limited mobility, to enter/exit a vehicle securely and safely, even in a narrow space.

Power Back Door System

Using a switch, the large back door can be opened and closed automatically. Convenient functions are incorporated, including the ability to open and close doors with foot movement, while both hands are occupied with groceries, baggage, etc.

Roof and Front-Related Products

Sunroof

The company offers a broad product line, including multi-panel, panoramic, and standard sunroofs. The company holds the largest domestic market share in Japan. Grille Shutter

MaaS Initiatives

Rideshare Service ‘Choisoko’

This mobility support service aims to maintain and improve health and wellness among the elderly and was first demonstrated and tested in July of 2018 through a collaboration with Toyoake City, Aichi Prefecture. Choisoko began full scale operations in April of 2019, and the company plans to expand into new regions via cooperation with Toyota dealerships to assist with operations outside the prefecture.

Road Maintenance and Management Support Service

The company offers a support service for road maintenance management by detecting abnormal road conditions based on information collected from operating vehicles, providing such information, supporting formulation of repair plans and preparing road maintenance plans after repair.

Logistics Support Service

The company offers a total support service, from departure to arrival, by providing detailed information on delivery locations in addition to delivery plans and road guidance optimized for each logistics site. This is a service for improving efficiency and flexibility of delivery work.

LEXUS Voice Car Navigation System for Japan, and North America: 12.3-inch large high-definition display with full map drawing capability. Intuitive remote operation, including pinch-in, pinch-out, and flicking, etc. Fastest route searches using a database of accumulated transit time histograms for each road. Comfortable voice operation via the cloud-type voice recognition function that can recognize natural speech.

ISUZU Map Locator ECU for Japan: Support for the vehicle auto cruise function using map information. Information about the road ahead, such as curves and the steepness of hills, is predicted based on map information and the location information of the vehicle, and then is output to the vehicle control ECU. The vehicle automatically selects the optimal gear to save fuel and to support a higher level of fuel saving cruise. Available for 24V commercial vehicles.

Cogeneration System for Residential Use

ENE·FARM is a system that generates electricity by extracting hydrogen from gas delivered to each household to cause a reaction with oxygen. Gas Heat Pump Air-conditioner (GHP)

Personal mobility ‘ILY-Ai’

ILY-Ai is a multi-functional personal shopping mobility partner that can be modified for a variety of user needs. In March 2020, the company began leasing ILY-Ai models to shopping centers to provide a leisurely shopping experience.

Fiber Laser

This is a processing laser that uses a femto-second pulse to enable processing that minimally causes heat damage to the peripheral area and micro-fabrication of transparent and ultra-hard materials, which are traditionally difficult to work with.

TAOC is Aisin Takaoka's high-end audio brand. Aisin Takaoka offers products with excellent rigidity and damping qualities by leveraging a wealth of experience in automobile components and high-carbon iron damping technologies. Its high definition and sound clarity have been highly regarded by the audio industry. Aisin Takaoka also offers well-balanced lines of audio products, including speaker systems and speaker stands.
