Bazan and its subsidiaries are industrial companies operating in Israel and are engaged, mainly, in production of fuel products, raw materials for the petrochemical industry and materials for the plastics industry, oils, wax and accompanying products. The factories of Bazan’s subsidiaries are integrated in Bazan’s facilities. In addition, Bazan provides power and water (mainly steam) services to a number of industries located near the refinery in Haifa. Bazan is an Israeli-resident company that was incorporated in Israel and its shares are registered for trading on the Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange in Israel.

Segments

The company’s operations are organized under four segments: Industrial Products (Bromine), Potash, Phosphate Solutions, and Innovative Ag Solutions.

Industrial Products (Bromine)

The operations of the company’s Industrial Products are largely affected by the level of activity in the electronics, construction, automotive, oil drilling, furniture, pharmaceutical, agro, textile and water treatment markets.

In 2019, the company sold approximately 245 thousand tons of Bromine compounds, 75 thousand tons of Phosphorus compounds, 40 thousand tonnes of Magnesia and Calcium products, and 360 thousand tons of Dead Sea Salts.

ICL Industrial Products is sold-out of almost all of its brominated compounds lines. In addition, this segment is sold-out of all of its high-end magnesium oxide grades.

Potash

In 2019, potash production was 721 thousand tons. The quantity of potash sold in 2019 was 765 thousand tons.

Phosphate Solutions

In December 2019, the company launched its new food-grade phosphoric acid plant in the YPH JV in China. The plant will add an additional 70 thousand tons of food grade acid capacity to the existing 60 thousand tons of technical grade acid capacity and is scheduled to produce commercial quantities in 2020.

Innovative Ag Solutions

Innovative Ag Solutions segment is active in two main markets, such as agriculture and turf and ornamental markets.

The specialty agriculture markets include all open field crops (rice, maize, potatoes, etc.), orchards and greenhouses. The company’s offerings for the specialty agriculture sector include three main product groups, such as soluble fertilizers, which include water-soluble straights (such as MKP, MAP and Pekacid), and water-soluble NPK; controlled release fertilizers (CRF); and liquid NPK fertilizers.

The turf and landscape market is the market for professional turf (i.e. golf and sport fields) and the landscape and lawn service market. The Ornamental Horticulture market includes container nursery growers, pot-plants and bedding plants. Towards the end of 2019, ICL Innovative Ag Solutions supplied its Agriform tablets, as part of a major government initiative in Mexico to promote sustainable agriculture practices and improve farmer economics in Mexico.
