Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Limited, together with its subsidiaries, manufactures sugar and ethanol in India.
The company operates fourteen sugar plants that have an aggregate sugarcane crushing capacity of 1,36,000 TCD, six distilleries that have an aggregate capacity to produce industrial alcohol of 800 kilo litres per day, and fourteen co-generation plants that have a total power generation capacity of 449 MW.
During the year ended March 31, 2019, the company processed 16.761 MMT of sugarcane. The company sold 19,53,160 MT of sugar and 3,28,600 MT of molasses during the year. The Industrial Alcohol / Ethanol production was 1,07,724 KL. Alcohol/Ethanol sale during the year was at 1,24,841 KL. During the year, Power generation at fourteen of the company’s plants were at 949.4 million units (MUs). The company exported 338.9 MUs of power.
The company operates through Sugar, Distillery, and Power segments. The company offers bagasse, molasses, fly ash, and press mud. While majority of the power generated by the company continued to be used for captive consumption to run its plants, the surplus power was sold to the Uttar Pradesh state grid. Industrial alcohol was sold in the local market directly to end users, mainly alcohol-based chemical plants. Ethanol was sold to oil companies, who use it for blending with gasoline.
History
The company was incorporated in 1931. It was formerly known as Bajaj Hindusthan Limited and changed its name to Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Limited in 2015.
